Interest in Agyness Deyn in the Lead Role Has Led Organisers to Extend the Shows Run in the West End
“The Leisure Society” is set to open its doors at Trafalgar Studios 2 from Tuesday 28th February 2012 and its main selling point upon its announcement was its star Agyness Deyn. This selling point has apparently served it well and as a result the extra demand for theatre tickets has added extra dates to its month-long run. So instead of Saturday 24th March 2012, the show will now bow out a week later on Saturday 31st March 2012.
Fashion model Agyness Deyn has previously appeared in movies such as “Clash of the Titans” in 2010, though she is better known for the career that put her on the front pages of numerous fashion and glamour magazines, from Vogue to Gracia, in addition to newspapers like the Sunday Times. “The Leisure Society” marks her West End debut, though judging by the result of her involvement in the production it would perhaps be safe to predict future appearances in West End shows.
The play also stars West End regular Ed Stoppard, who has appeared in the like of “The Glass Menagerie” at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, and was penned by François Archambault.
It is described as a ‘morality play’ that happens to play out with no morals at all as we witness a vulgar couple indulge in a weekend of debauchery. Stoppard and Melanie Gray portray the couple, whilst Deyn plays the free-spirited friend Paula, and thanks to having more money than they need they embark on a weekend of self-indulgence and excess.
François Archambault is a Canadian writer whose career has spanned more than two decades. Though most of his career has been based in the Quebec theatre scene, with plays such as “Le Jour de la fête de Martin”, though his work has also been seen in the UK with previous shows such as “15 Seconds”.
Trafalgar Studios 2 is currently the home of “Huis Clos”, with “Sex with a Stranger” following in February, whilst “The Leisure Society” appears from Thursday 1st March 2012 (previews from Tuesday 28th February 2012) to Saturday 31th March 2012.
