Actors Join the Annual 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala
It has been announced that both Jessica Hynes and Charlie Cox have joined the cast of the “24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala”, an annual event that appears at the Old Vic Theatre. They will be part of a long list of well known names that appear as part of the production – with others such as Mackenzie Crook, Anthony Head, Lily Cole, Isy Suttie, Nancy Carroll and many others – and as a result will take part in an event that raises money for Old Vic Theatre Trust and Old Vic New Voices.
Jessica Hynes is best known to audiences in the United Kingdom for her work on the television series “Spaced”, which she co-created and starred in with Simon Pegg. However, as well as appearing in movies like “Burke and Hare” and “Son of Rambow”, she has also appeared in various London theatre productions. Her credits include “The Priory” at the Royal Court Theatre, “The Norman Conquests” at the Old Vic Theatre and “The Night Heron” at the Royal Court Theatre.
Charlie Cox, meanwhile, has also accumulated a wealth of credits during his career and these include productions at the Donmar Warehouse such as “The Prince of Homburg” and West End shows such as “The Lover & The Collection” (double bill) at the Comedy Theatre. Meanwhile, he has also appeared in numerous television shows on both sides of the Atlantic and they include “Judge John Deed”, “Lewis”, “Downton Abbey” and “Boardwalk Empire”. His film roles have included “There Be Dragons”, “Stardust”, “Stone of Destiny” and “The Merchant of Venice”.
The “24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala” is the culmination of intense work during one weekend as a the celebrity performers and behind the scenes talents meet for the first time on Saturday 12th November at 10pm and must then write and rehearse six new plays before presenting them to the gala audience on the Sunday. Last year it raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the mentioned Old Vic Theatre Trust and Old Vic New Voices.
