The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

In 2009 audiences headed to Kensington Gardens for a London theatre production with a difference – a staging of “Peter Pan” with a state of the art set. Audiences that flocked to witness the show will now have the opportunity to relive the magic as “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” receives the same treatment. It is heading to the Threesixty Theatre, which includes a 360 degree set, plus puppetry and more, which will combine to truly bring the world of Narnia to life. It is set to arrive at the venue in May 2012 for a run lasting throughout the summer.

Rupert Goold is set to direct the production in London and he does-so on the back of a long and successful stage career that has seen him bring some well known works to the stage in the capital and beyond. As the current associate director of the Royal Shakespeare Company he has directed “The Merchant of Venice” and “Romeo & Juliet”, whilst additional credits include “Earthquakes in London” at the Cottesloe National Theatre and “ENRON” in Chichester, the Royal Court Theatre and Noel Coward Theatre. The latter was one of the most talked-about plays of 2010 alongside the also-acclaimed “Jerusalem”.

And with “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” he sets his sights on the world of Narnia as it follows the characters of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy as they travel to this enchanting world, where they must work alongside Aslan to defeat the Snow Queen. The story was the first in the “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, preceding follow-ups like “Prince Caspian”, “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” and more. These first three books in the series have also been adapted to the big screen starting with 2005’s “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”.

So theatre tickets are likely to be in high demand for the Threesixty Theatre production of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. Not only has the company proven itself with its previous staging of “Peter Pan” they are also utilising a story that has enchanted audiences since the original novel was published back in 1950.

“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” is at the Threesixty Theatre in Kensington Gardens from Tuesday 8th May 2012 to Sunday 9th September 2012.
