Daisy Pulls It Off

From writer Denise Deegan comes “Daisy Pull It Off” at the Arts Theatre, a story that places audiences in the middle of a girls’ private school and showcases the hidden goings on of a secret world. We follow the character of Daisy, who must overcome adversity due to her poor background and does so by embarking on a trek to find a secret hidden treasure.

Set in a bygone era, “Daisy Pulls It Off” introduces us to Daisy Meredith as she wins a scholarship to study at a snobbish boarding school. She is from a poor family of Opera singers and Daisy does not fit in with the other girls, who look down on her and in the most extreme of circumstances even try to get her expelled from the school.

But not everyone is out to get her and Daisy befriends Clare, the head girl, and together they embark on an adventure to search for her secret family treasure, which she says is hidden somewhere within the school. It is an exciting journey that sees Daisy fall under fear of expulsion, head out onto midnight expeditions and even save some lives. Along the way, there are some unexpected surprises as well!

Denise Deegan is the novelist and playwright behind “Daisy Pulls It Off” and has written numerous works over the years. Her credits, as well as this play, include “The Project”, “The One And Only Wonderous Legends Show”, “A Late Late Christmas Carol”, “The Midsummer Gathering” and “No Birds Sing”.

Meanwhile, already cast in the show is Fiona Domenica, who will portray one of Daisy’s arch enemies Sybil Burlington in the production. Domenica has many plays to her name including a 2009 production of “Daisy Pulls It Off”, in which she portrayed Sybil at Barons Court. As well as this she has appeared in low profile movies such as “Stay Out Of The Woods”, “Secret Agent Sam” and “Mary Ann Harper”. She has also appeared in a small role on the BBC television show “Judge John Deed” in 2004.

“Daisy Pulls It Off” is at the Arts Theatre from Tuesday 19th January 2010 to Saturday 6th February 2010.
