Christmas With The Rat Pack

In the West End there are always plenty of ways to celebrate the Christmas months in style, whether it is the annual ballet of “The Snowman” at the Peacock Theatre or one of the many shows designed to keep the kids happy. In 2011, however, audiences will once again get to add the Rat Pack to their list of must-see shows during the festive season. From December to January “Christmas with the Rat Pack” will be setting up shop at the Wyndham’s Theatre, where those with theatre tickets will be able to witness some talented performers recreate the performances of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin.

The Rat Pack was, of course, a world-famous collection of actors and musicians who were well known for performing at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. Such shows would attract audiences far and wide as they belted out classic tracks like “New York, New York” or, if it was Christmas, “Let it Snow”. Audiences will see songs confined to the latter camp from Tuesday 20th December 2011 to Saturday 7th January 2011 as “Christmas with the Rat Pack” takes shape, then from Monday 9th January 2011, “The Rat Pack Live from Vegas” will take its place with the former.

In addition to the mentioned Sinatra, Davis Jr and Martin, the Rat Pack also featured Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop among the team members, with Humphrey Bogart accepted as one of the original members prior to his death in the late 1950s. Throughout the 1960s and onwards they would perform on stages and also make appearances on famous movies, from “Ocean’s Eleven” to “The Cannonball Run”. They left a legacy that lives on to this day, from these tribute performances to the influence they have had on performers that have followed in their wake.

And it all arrives at the Wyndham’s Theatre, a West End theatre that regularly welcomes some big name production, whether it is the team-up of Catherine Tate and David Tennant in “Much Ado About Nothing” or Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones in “Driving Miss Daisy”. There is always something to witness that will leave a lasting impression.

“Christmas with the Rat Pack” appears at the Wyndham’s Theatre from Tuesday 20th December 2011 until Saturday 7th January 2011. Then “The Rat Pack Live from Vegas” replaces it from Monday 9th January 2011 until Saturday 21st January 2011.
