SYNOPSIS
Christmas With The Rat Pack
Following on from the highly anticipated show “The Rat Pack Live From Vegas”, the Rat Pack continue into the Christmas period with “Christmas With The Rat Pack”, which promises to take audiences back to a time when Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davies Jr. and Dean Martin would wow audiences any time of the year.
As well as songs such as “New York, New York” and “That’s Amore”, the team also had some great Christmas songs that have become synonymous with the period, meaning that this show should prove to be a popular destination for theatregoers this holiday season.
Along with a huge fifteen piece orchestra and great lookalikes, who will bring all of the banter and wisecracks from the original Vegas shows, the audience will be treated to many yuletide hits, such as “Winter Wonderland”, “White Christmas”, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, “Let It Snow, Let It Snow”, “Auld Lang Syne” and “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer”. It will also feature an array of back-up singers and dancers.
The Rat Pack is, of course, the name given to a group of actors and stage performers of the 1950s and 1960s, consisting primarily of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davies Jr. and Dean Martin. Whilst many admired their talent and ability to banter between one another, most of the population simply wanted to be them and take part in their wild off-stage antics, which made up a lifestyle that included lots of singing and lots of partying. But along the way they also managed to make a string of hit movies such as “Ocean’s 11” (1960) and “Robin Hood And The 7 Hoods” (1964).
But the Rat Pack also went beyond these three, with Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford also being well known members of the team, which actually called itself ‘the summit’ or ‘the clan’, leaving the Rat Pack for the press. They were originally centred around Humphrey Bogart and featured female collaborators as well, such as Judy Garland and Katherine Hepburn.
“Christmas With The Rat Pack” continues at the Adelphi where “The Rat Pack Live From Vegas” leaves off, appearing at the venue from Tuesday 24th November 2009 to January 2010.
