SYNOPSIS
Ed Byrne: Different ClassIn recent years, Irish comic Ed Byrne made that triumphant move away from the city into the heart of the English countryside and it is this change in lifestyle that influences his new show “Different Class”, as he touches on the various matters in life that bother him most: marriage, class and the youth of today.
Byrne is no stranger to speaking his mind on stage, with his most well known routine consisting of him tearing apart the Alanis Morissette song “Ironic”. Many will remember this when it made a triumphant reappearance on his 2006 DVD “Pedantic And Whimsical”, but he regularly touches on topics related to the society around us, social interactions and everyone’s day to day life. In fact it is this ‘whimsical’ style that has made him such a huge draw over the years, having made regular appearances at the annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival (being nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award in 1998) and various international comedy festivals such as Melbourne and Montreal.
In recent years, many people will be familiar with his work from various hit television panel shows. He regularly appears on “Mock The Week” alongside fellow Irish comic Dara O’Briain and has also appeared on signature shows such as “Have I Got News For You”, “Never Mind The Buzzcocks” and “8 Out Of 10 Cats”. But he has also appeared on various other television shows such as “Live At The Apollo” and “The Weakest Link”, whilst for the radio he has appeared on “The Unbelievable Truth”. He is a favourite comedian amongst many people and joined many of his fellow Irish stand ups when he appeared on the cult comedy show “Father Ted” during its run on Channel 4.
His 2009 appearance at the Vaudeville Theatre will put him with the likes of Bill Bailey, Eddie Izzard and Rob Brydon as these comics and more have all made the West End the best place to witness live comedy in recent years. This year also sees Dylan Moran and Ross Noble make triumphant returns as well.
“Ed Byrne: Different Class” is at the Vaudeville Theatre from Monday 7th September 2009 to Saturday 19th September 2009.
