A Little Night Music

A Little Night Music

In the spring of 2009, visitors to the Garrick Theatre can enjoy A Little Night Music as Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical finds itself at the London venue from Tuesday 7th April 2009. With a cast that includes Alexander Hanson, Maureen Lipman and Hannah Waddingham and some great songs that includes the famous “Send In The Clowns”, this is sure to be a worthwhile experience.

A Little Night Music transports us to turn of the century Sweden where we are introduced to four linked couples. It is in this setting, during a particular weekend, that we are witnesses to the romantic affairs and the inner turmoils of these couples, ultimately showing us how this one weekend affects them. Along with “Send In The Clowns”, the show is also famous for songs such as “Night Waltz” and “Glamorous Life”. With a distinctive story and music set entirely to waltz, it is a story that has survived through the ages since it was originally penned in the 1970s (after being inspired by the 1955 Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night).

Visiting this show will mean you can enjoy some great performances from some of the best talents of the West End. Director Sir Trevor Nunn's cast have a range of credits to their name, including Maureen Lipman who appears as Madame Armfeldt in the production. She has had years of West End success and a career made up of the likes of “The Sisters Rosenwig” at the Old Vic in 1994 as well as “Peggy For You” at the Comedy Theatre in 2000 and more recently “Glorous!” at the Duchess Theatre in 2005. She is also a well known actress from the screen, after appearing in the likes of Coronation Street and Doctor Who.

The rest of the cast consists of Alexander Hanson (Fredrik Egerman), Hannah Waddingham (Desiree Armfeldt), Kelly Price (Countess Charlotte Malcolm), John Addison, Laura Armstrong, Lynden Edwards, Holly Hallam, Kaisa Hammarlund, Grace Link, Alistair Robins, Nicola Sloane and Gabriel Vick. They will bring Stephen Sondheim’s experience to life with a wealth of theatre experience.

A Little Night Music will appear at the Garrick Theatre from Tuesday 7th April 2009 (previews from 28th March 2009) and is currently booking to Saturday 25th July 2009.
