Bill Bailey: Tinselworm

Bill Bailey's highly acclaimed comedy and musical show, Tinselworm, touches down at London's Gielgud Theatre in the West End this autumn and Christmas. The show, which takes us inside the mind of one of Britain's finest comedy talents, opens at the Gielgud Theatre on November 10, 2008. This will be Tinselworm's last public outing. It follows on from his sell-out UK tour in 2007 and his highly successful run of shows in Australia and New Zealand during 2008.

Trademark Bill Bailey

Bill Bailey is one of the UK's most popular stand-up comedians. He is known for his blokeish attitude to life and his confessions as a 'confused hippie'. Bailey - real name Mark Bailey - is also an actor and classically trained musician. He is well-known to TV audiences for his appearances on shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks with former comedy partner Mark Lamarr, QI with Stephen Fry and regular guest appearances on Have I Got News for You. His film acting credits include roles in the British action comedy Hot Fuzz and the 2005 film The Libertine.

In Tinselworm Bill Bailey is at his comical best. Material is diverse and is peppered with hilarious musical arrangements that include an impromptu re-hash of music from Star Wars to a Pink Panther national anthem. Bailey's logic is genuinely funny - he makes connections between events, people and places in a way that few other comedians can master. He follows his train of thought, expounding to the audience what he sees and interprets it with that trademark Bill Bailey look of confusion and a shrug of the shoulders.

Adding impact to the show are the enormous projection screens that appear behind Bill on stage with his ensemble of keyboards and other musical props. The screens bring Bill Bailey's exploits to life with animations by award-winning film animator, Joe Magee. If you have not yet seen Tinselworm this is your last chance - book your theatre tickets now!

Bill Bailey in the West End

Although this is the first appearance of Tinselworm in London's West End, Bill Bailey himself is no stranger to live performances in London. Prior to the commencement of Tinselworm he can be seen at the Royal Albert Hall between 15 and 17 October, 2008 in Bill Bailey's Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra where he'll have the BBC Concert Orchestra at his beck and call.

Bailey's last stand-up comedy show in the West End was Part Troll, which played at the Apollo Theatre to rave reviews. That was four years ago in 2004. In 2007 he made his West End acting debut, taking on various roles in Pinter's People - a series of sketches taken from Harold Pinter's work from 1959 through to 2006 - at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Now, Bill Bailey is back on familiar ground - doing what he does best. For a memorable night of entertainment you won't find much better this autumn and Christmas than Tinselworm at the Gielgud Theatre.
