Never Forget - the MusicalIt is little coincidence that Never Forget - the brand new musical at the Savoy Theatre in London opening on 7th May 2008 - is also the title of British boy band Take That's 1995 number one hit in the UK. The show, which completed a regional tour of the UK in 2007, is a high-energy romp through Take That's hits archive. Songs such as "Could It be Magic", "Pray", and "A Million Love Songs" feature in a feel-good musical story about a wannabe Take That tribute band and the trials and tribulations that each band member encounters along their journey. With the realisation that sometimes you have to pretend to be someone else to find out who you really are, Never Forget is set to have audiences rocking in the aisles.
Never Forget - The StoryA story of friendship, love, dreams and betrayal, Never Forget plunges us into the lives of five young lads from different backgrounds in Manchester, all of whom are drawn towards a common dream - to escape their current situations and be successful in the music industry. Local music impresario, Ron Freeman, just happens to be in the right place at the right time for the boys. It is his desire to launch a Take That tribute band and his plans on music world domination that brings would-be pop idols Ash Sherwood, Jake 'The Face' Turner, Adrian Banks, Dirty Harry and Jose Reize together.
Ash is an aspiring singer-songwriter. His dream is to make it big and save his mum's Manchester pub from going under, while scraping together enough money to pay for his wedding to his best friend's sister, Chloe. Jake The Face - Ash's best friend and Chloe's brother - sees the band as an opportunity to get out of his dead end job; while Adrian Banks looks on it as a way to win back the affection of his adulterous wife. Ex male stripper Dirty Harry's motivation is altogether different. The band for him gives him a chance to recover his self-respect. For Spaniard Jose Reize on the other hand the Take That tribute band is all about escaping from his overbearing mother!
Never Forget bounces along with energy and drama at every turn as the lives of these five characters run a roller coaster of highs and lows in their quest for music success, and for their own freedom. The finale is a spectacular stage extravaganza that features a medley of Take That's most recognisable songs.
Theatrical creativity Creativity is the heartbeat of Never Forget. The musical is an original story created by TV comedy writer Danny Brocklehurst. Brocklehurst has written for stage before - his credits include My Eight Times Table, Nobody and Loaded. The show is produced by Tristan Baker, is directed by Ed Curtis and choreographed by Karen Bruce.
Groundbreaking stage sets are to be used in the London production. Included is a 10ft x 28ft wall of fire and a movable curtain of rain that floods the stage!
